Understanding the relationship between SEO (search engine optimization) and bounce rates requires a bit of a detailed understanding of the relationship between the two.
SEO (search engine optimization) is the relationship between a group of inter-related factors on any given web page.
The quality content on said given page; the keyword density of the page (which encompasses the number of times particular keywords appear in the quality content, in the links on the page, and in the alt text on the page); the relevancy of the meta tags on the page (title, description and keyword); and the amount of organic linking going on between this page and the rest of your website.
Bounce rate has to do with the relevant SEO on said web page as well as the aesthetics of the page.
Aesthetics (or the beauty of the page) encompasses the attractiveness, ease of use, ease of navigation, content on the page, quality of the pictures, etc. etc. In other words, the overall attractiveness of the page.
The last factor of bounce rate is going to hurt a bit. It’s the fickleness of the visiting crowd.
Many time a high bounce rate signals that you’ve got good, popular keywords that bring people to the page, but…………. they are just browsing. You’ve got tire kickers.
Like shoppers in any mall anywhere, they look in the windows, but it’s not exactly what they were looking for, not at all what they had in mind, or, they’re not sure.
However, before you throw your hands up in the air in disgust, take five.
What bounce rate DOES NOT tell us is whether they bookmarked the page for future consideration, whether something caught their eye and they have to think about it, or whether you just didn’t have what they wanted.
There are ways to counteract a high bounce rate.
Improve and fine tune your SEO, improve your organic linking, fine tune your page content, write articles of interest, link to your blog, and provide diversity with affiliate links of relevant materials are just a few things you can do.
