Some of the more cynical among you might feel that getting your eBay store designed or re-designed might be some designers way of pushing their services. LOL I can understand where that thought process might be coming from however for the most part it’s incorrect.

Think about when you go shopping in brick and mortar stores. What types of stores attract you more? Despite the fact that several stores in a mall, let’s say, could be carrying the item that you want, and all at relatively close to the same price, which store would simply “click” with you and cause you to go in and look around?

Stores with flashing bright lights generally turn people off ~ either it gives them a headache, hurts their eyes or is generally distracting from viewing the merchandise.

It’s the same way with your eBay store. Marquees, slideshows (unless they are moving comfortably slow), flashing banners or logos ~ generally anything moving is a distraction from the main idea of having a store ~ your merchandise. Again, if the slideshow is moving at about 5 seconds per photo, which is generally agreed to be comfortable, that would be fine. Now what works much better are pristine, clear, in focus, well taken macro (close-up) photographs of your products.

An attractive brick and mortar store with beautiful displays and uncluttered aisles with clearly marked aisle signs are usually what attract people.

Your eBay store should be the same.

A beautifully designed storefront done up in attractive, cheerful colors with clearly defined categories and easy navigation (think “store aisles”), pristine and creatively displayed photos of your products (think “beautiful displays”) and an informative write up about you and your company or business plus pets, family, and how your hobby became the business it is today on your About Me page. Every online store owner needs some perky PR! Especially with the About Me page being the most commonly read page after the store home page by most shoppers.

Humans are curious, (hence wanting to know more about you and your products), and humans are visually stimulated (hence the need for an attractive, eye catching eBay store front.

Humans tend to spend their hard earned money in places where they feel confident of the product, where the product is presented attractively, and where the store owner demonstrates considerable knowledge about said product.

Get the picture?
